BAKER AND SAVI TO TAKE CHARGE
 |
| SPORT-6 CHIEF: Paul Baker |
SPORT-6's Alastair Saverimutto and Paul Baker are today expected to be unveiled as Cherries' new owners as the club's protracted takeover saga finally nears a conclusion.
Newly-appointed chief executive Saverimutto and his business partner Baker are understood to have joined forces with Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly and struck a deal to take Cherries out of administration.
Their appointments are today likely to be confirmed at a lunchtime press conference at Dean Court before the duo - along with Mostyn - take questions from supporters at a fans' forum at the club tonight.
In a press release issued yesterday, the club announced Mostyn was set to "reveal exciting news regarding the takeover of AFC Bournemouth" at the press conference.
The statement added that current chairman Mostyn and vice-chairman Sly "will be introducing the new directors to the press and outlining future plans" for the club.
Mostyn, who controversially gained a controlling interest in the club in March 2007, has been trying to source new funding partners ever since putting the club into administration at the start of February.
Since then, several prospective parties have fallen by the wayside as the administration process under Gerald Krasner has often descended into farce.
However, despite the long-running fiasco, Mostyn, who was awarded preferred bidder status at the end of April, has continued to stump up funds to keep Cherries alive.
And he turned to Saverimutto and businessman Baker when his alliance with Alan Pither, who runs Christchurch-based Priory Homes, broke down earlier this month.
Saverimutto is the ambitious frontman of Liverpool-based sports marketing company Sport-6 who initially held talks with Mostyn and Sly around three months ago.
He remained in the background until he was unveiled as Cherries' chief executive a fortnight ago - just days after Mostyn had severed ties with Pither.
Saverimutto subsequently enlisted the help of his business partner Baker, who is understood to have provided some of the finance to meet Krasner's latest funding deadline.
Baker, whose business portfolio includes a franchise in national courier company UK Sameday, is also a self-confessed lifelong supporter and former director of Chester City.
Together with Saverimutto, Baker tabled an offer to buy Chester last year, although the bid was ultimately rejected by current owner Stephen Vaughan.
Baker is known to be a keen advocate of fan involvement in the running of football clubs having been a member of the Chester City supporters' trust. His company also provided generous sponsorship to Chester.
He is expected to take up a position on the Cherries board alongside Mostyn, Sly, Saverimutto and new football operations director Ted Sutton, although it is unclear whether the supporters' trust will continue to have any involvement.
Mostyn's previous board, which will be officially dissolved once the new company takes over, included supporters' representatives Ernie Battey and David Musker.
When contacted by the Daily Echo last night, Saverimutto said it would be "inappropriate" for him to elaborate on the club's press release until the press conference. He also declined to confirm or deny whether both he and Baker would be unveiled as new directors.

Mr Perrett, enough of publishing this fluff and guff on behalf of Jeff Mostyn & co.
When you are at the Press Conference today, please ask these simple questions and get satisfactory answers...
1) Is there funding in place to not only pay the big wages of Savi and Sutton but inject significant money into the club in general, particularly into the playing staff where we badly need new players?
2) Why is it claimed the club are embargoed from signing new players when Rotherham who are also in administration are able to do so without a problem?

And re question (1) above, if the answer is "No, not at the moment", then where is it going to come from?

To be fair, there is more info there than recent articles.
Perret and team must have known more about what was coming but chose not to publish.

well at least we appear to be reaching a conclusion, personally I think Mostyn and Sly should resign their tenure in the charge at the club has been the worst in the clubs history, and the "new owners" should be given a free hand. They will soon be found out if there is a lack of funds or accumen to take the club forward, but in the meantime Mostyn Sly and their Board of Directors should be held to account for the manner in which they have run the club into the ground. I cannot think on one positive thing that has been acheived since Mostyn took control, and I am disappointed that he along with Sly will still have an involvement. The club needs a fresh start, and if Sport 6 are the fresh start so be it, but lets use this as an opportunity to clean up this club once and for all.

I think that last paragraph says all you need to know about the article, same old same old, words like expected and likely, yet more hot air and no substance, we want to hear will and when, also a date for coming out of administration and what funding is in place, I think we have all had enough of the fluff and guff, come on let's have some commitment for once.

come on now worst in the clubs history, this has been coming for years buy a number of people who have fleeced the club of every thing possible. JM has continued to put money into empty hole to keep what we have left of our club alive. He may not be forth coming in broadcasting his business to the world but personally do you blame him for not wanting to let the club go. I say give them all a chance after all has anyone looked at Sport6 finances believe me all people that have been involved with this saga have not been multi millionaires. so what ever we get has got to be better than no club in the town at all. Good luck for the season all at AFCB some of the town are still behind you

I think it is ill advised of us to make comments about this matter until later in to the day. But worries still persist. Why has the other guy dropped out?.
Have this lot got any money? What effect will the land position have on the future of the football club?. Can this lot bullshit the football league enough for us to continue bring league football to the town.?
But the most important thing is today that truth must be said-not lies on that forum. My worries are that this time next week no one will know if that we will have any more news than noand August and the new season (for others) is fast coming.
Do not think it is over. It could be a strange 24 hours-let us hope the fans get what they want, but dont get too sad if you dont, interesting as it may be seen.

Incidentally, Rotherham were allowed to sign players because they had less than the 15 minimum on their books.

I think the comments made by Roly 1976 & Richard Board are the most sensible at this stage of proceedings. We havn't had much to get excited about recently in this long running saga , so perhaps we can at long last be just a little more optomistic.

Harry Redknapp promised earlier in the year that he would not allow Bournemouth to die.He then disappeared below the parapet.Harry is a shrewd bloke and probably knows a lot more than we do.
Bondy will probably have a maximum of seven days to compile a squad so if Harry is true to his word we may see an influx of Pompey loan players just before the season starts. Will we see Kanu up front I wonder.

I can't believe how so many people are falling for all this guff, we are still no nearer coming out of administration and we still have no clue as to where the money is coming from for this bright new future. The people Jeff has now joined are here because others have dropped out they are a long way from first choice and their company has no money so why all the optimism about 2 new directors. It has been reported that they will not want to include any fans in the boardroom, they have someone else buying the land from around them, no money has been paid so that Bond can sign players and any money they have paid is being drip fed, also Mostyn now has to pay back Pither the money he gave to keep the club in administration, so please where exactly is this good news that you are going on about, all I see is 2 more directors a bigger wage bill and still no more playing staff, that should do us great on August 9th, NOT!"!!

I now know how to spell the word optimistic(typing error)butwith the greatest respect to G.Mc.Mahon's opinions, I am now just a little more confident that we will have a club next season. We have all been overwhelmed with pessimism recently, so, rightly or wrongly, I am more hopeful, which is similar to being optimistic. When you get to age of 86 you have to be optimistic.!!!!!!.Yo

Whilst it is good to take a positive approach, there can be no disputing fact when it comes to how the club has been run both pre Mostyn/Sly and during Mostyn Sly, so we now have more new faces, a top heavy and possibly expensive managment structure, a lack of players, in League 2 with a possible points deduction which is widely expected and reported by the national press, no proof of funding, no evidence of a business plan, the season is three saturdays away, and the lack of PR and commercial activity is unbelieveable, but we should remain optimistic, I just have the fear we have been here before, new faces same words, only time will tell, but for all those thinking a new dawn is breaking all may not be as it appears, at this moment in time, and that may change over the course of the next few days there is no evidence to suggest things will get better, everything is conjecture, having watched this club for all of my life and that is a long time I genuinely dispair and the events of this summer, and the past five years, if those in the position of power do not get it right this time we will no longer have a professional football club in Bournemouth, we have just opened the doors of the last chance saloon, lets hope good old Jeff and Steve have called it right this time!

GMcMahon - Totally sick of your pathetic comments. Why don't you just **** off and "support" another team. I'm sure Bashley would welcome your valuable insight and knowledge of the game and the business of running a football club.
Try allowing other people a little bit of optimism in their lives. You blinkered one-track fool.
If it's all getting a bit much for you, you're quite close to some cliffs. Throw yourself off.

No-one question anything Mostyn says. He's not full of it. Oh no. He's on the level. He was quite happy taking a £1m shower. Honestly. He's not really just after whatever he can get back, however he can get it. Don't let anyone ever tell you that, because it just ain'tn't true.

I would like to be optimistic about what we have heard, the one thing that bothers me is if the funds are there to take the club out of administration then why is this not being done surely this would be better than just funding the club on a part time basis, I hope that the relevant questions will be asked at the forum, and I would beg fans not to waste valuable time in asking questions with regard to players, these questions will be answered in time but we have to be satisfied the finances are properly in place

I was being accused of being Mostyns mate yesterday yep that's right and today I am being told to go support Bashley because of my negative posts, you lot make me laugh you really do, when are you going to wake up and see what is going on, you get filled with promises from the same people who have not delivered on any of their previous promises, you get told about new men who will be paid 6 figure sums just weeks after the club had to let staff go because they couldn't be paid, the playing staff is as small is is possible and players have been on half wages at times, but you get one report from Mostyns new mates who themselves have had to lay people off and you think it's time to be positive, and then to top that off you then slag me off for asking the one question that is the most important one, what date are we coming out of admin and what is the financial plan, how anyone can after all this time just accept what these people say this easy after what has happened over the past few months beggars belief, I am as keen as anyone for this for this to work and I was being attacked long after others for saying we had to give Mostyns bid a chance because it was all we had, so don't now come at me saying I don't support the team, you have no idea what you are talking about and if you are that easy to please I have a few things I need to sell you'll love em I promise.

its great that a lot of people are more optimistic, yet this is still all talk and nothing appears to have been completed. we still know nothing , we have no guarantees of anything. I agree again with GMcmahon who appears to be one of few people on here with a brain who can read between the lines and is asking the questions that need answering honestly. I would like to be optimistic too, but I fear the worst if not this year then in the next few. Without substantial investment AFCB is not a viable business. Didnt the community club prove that. Another question-
Why would a lifelong Chester fan and his mate presumably also from up north want to takeover a team on the south coast?? they dont really care about the club do they?
I hope it all works out but the drip fed cash indicates otherwise. Up The Cherries

the point is people say things carefully avoiding the whole truth. i for one would like to know that. if you dont give the full picture you must assume something has been hidden. we are hearing the right noises but no real fact has been given to us. for example a seven figure sum is a seven figure sum that you dont want to reveal exactly because it must be severely lacking. if not you would say we are investing 9 million in the club.

Neil perrett says 'Saverimutto has enlisted the help of his business partner baker who is understood to have provided some of the finance to meet krasners latest funding deadline' so why do we need saverimutto? he is the one who is interested but he has no cash, his mate doesnt care and he is the one with the money.

I have carried out my own investigations into Sport-6 and the people behind
the business. I don’t believe that Sport-6 will be able to finance the day-today
running of CCFC following any purchase and will therefore not succeed in
taking the club forward. The club is currently losing £40k per month.
Following the offer from Sport-6 I have seen no evidence of any money
forthcoming and there is no contract on the table.
those are the words of the Chester City Chairman from December, you make your own mind up I will believe they can do it the day the money is handed over and not because they say so, I really don't care if you think it's negative or not but if this is not for real then the club is in the deepest of deep holes.

John coombes, a few weeks ago I was being attacked because I said a deal was being done and it's not Mostyns money, I was being to positive and what proof did I have, and now you are saying because I want facts not promises that I am being to negative, so what do you want? I will be over the moon if indeed the club is saved and these guys do deliver but I will not accept it after one press conference, that is not being negative, I think it is the best news I have heard this year but there are still the all important questions to be answered, don't you recall a certain other press conference when our future looked rosie in April wasn't it and by the following Monday Krasner was telling us they dropped out at the 11th hour and we need money fast, so I say again until I see the news that the club has been bought and that we are exiting administration I will reserve the celebrations.

thanks gmcmahon.
i agree - utter nonsense. we all want the best for the club, if that means pointing out the shortfalls of dodgy businessmen who do not care about our club then so be it. i want the club to exist but not if someone is to rip it apart again which to be honest is highly likely. mostyn is doing his best but he has very few options if he is going to continue his efforts. unfortunately he couldnt get agreements with more sensible groups of more honest businessmen with more money.
thanks gmcmahon.

I think the problem is that many people are so desperate for the club to be saved that they are starting to forget what brought us here in the first place, it's not just about getting out of administration it's about the club surviving longer than it takes to write a single cheque, I am as desperate as anyone for the club to be saved but not if it means we will be going through this process again in a years time or less, so I want to hear how the club is going to survive for the next ten years and what the plans are, why that should be seen as negative is beyond me, that's why I say some are just desperate to get out of admin they are not looking at the whole picture. Think about who will own the land around the ground, not the new owners but Pither and his developers, that in itself should have alarm bells ringing.

The echo writes that it has descended into a farce under Krasner, I presume that the omission of Mostyns name was purely a typing error.

I hope it all works out but the drip fed cash indicates otherwise. Up The Cherries
sorry but between the lines means you are just quessing or its what you think not fact..we are at the stage now where facts and fiqures are being put forward to the supporters so lets see what they have to say. we have had people in the past who have run the club who loved it and its not worked so lets give these people a chance
An don the flip side why should you accept things on the same information, there is nothing in the statement that has an exact figure or date attached, there have been far too many false dawns to just accept things now.
1 dont except anything i said lets give them a chance to show us what they can do before we run them down

I think what we are trying to say is believe it when it actually happens . If these Guys get it and dont have the funding we will be back where we started

Will we see Kanu up front I wonder.[/quote] Well he hasnt let us down up until now so I dont see why he should now do you. Just a thought thogh will we have to have Bergovic again Oh no.
