Ben, eight, is a Small wonder on the fairway

| At the fore-front: Ben Small |
POOLE schoolboy Ben Small, eight, is all teed up for golfing greatness.
He has qualified for the final of the HSBC Wee Masters golf tournament at the St Andrew's course in Scotland.
The pint-sized putter has made the cut in a competition attracting entries from 4,500 junior golfers aged between five and 12.
Qualification from an opening round at Sturminster Marshall Golf Club took the Lilliput First School pupil to the West of England regional finals at Farrington Golf Club near Bristol.
Determination during a difficult third round saw Ben qualify for the grand final at the famous course.
It was a birthday present from his golf-mad grandad that first gave Ben the chance to take to the fairway at Parkstone Golf Club.
"I'm competitive and liked it straight away," said Ben.
"I'm very excited about playing at St Andrew's, but a bit nervous as well."
He's been guided by Sturminster Marshall Golf Club's PGA professional Mike Dodd.
"He's only eight, but has the mental attitude of a 16-year-old," said Mike. "I think he's already got his eyes on my job!"
Ben's talent has been recognised by Broad-stone Golf Club, where he was recently made the youngest ever member.
"We've been very impressed by Ben. He hits the ball very well and is very determined," said chairman Colin Robinson.
Proud dad Graham Small said his son had a natural flair for the game and spent most weekends practising.
The final is on August 23 and 24.
