Parking Mad stories
Still stopping on the zigzags outside school
 |
| DROPPING OFF: A car stops on zigzags at Ad Astra First School, Canford Heath |
THE Daily Echo visited a school in Poole, along with some traffic wardens, but still spotted a few parents parking dangerously.
As part of our Parking Mad campaign we visited Ad Astra First School in Canford Heath where we saw two parents stopping on the zigzag lines outside the school to pick up their children.
Another couple of parents parked on the pavement making it difficult for parents with pushchairs to squeeze past.
John Cafe, site manager for the school, said: "It's a shame because there is a huge car park at Asda which is empty and you can walk through the underpass and you are at the school but they can't be bothered.
"The traffic wardens come sometimes but not as often as we would like."
The Borough of Poole's travel plan co-ordinator Nick Ellis is undertaking a review of all the bus, cycling and walking routes to schools.
This summer the information will be published on a website to help parents find a safe, environmentally friendly way to get their children to school.
Mr Ellis said: "We know some parents will still have to drive to school but we always ask them to park a bit further away and walk rather than park dangerously right outside the school."
