JALAL DEAL FINALISED

CHERRIES are today poised to complete the signing of goalkeeper Shwan Jalal on a permanent transfer from Peterborough United.

The 25-year-old has impressed since arriving at Dean Court on a month's loan towards the end of Cherries' pre-season campaign.

And chief executive Alastair Saverimutto today successfully concluded negotiations with Posh director of football Barry Fry to convert the deal to a full transfer.

advertisementJalal has agreed terms on a two-year contract, with a further 12-month option based on appearances.

Peterborough stand to receive payments based on appearances and other incentives, although the finer details of the package are not known. The transfer is subject to Football League approval.

Meanwhile, Cherries striker Jo Kuffour is expected to finally complete his move to Bristol Rovers later today.

Kuffour is understood to be undergoing a medical and discussing personal terms with the West Country outfit this afternoon.

The two clubs have already agreed a fee for Kuffour, with the figure understood to have triggered a get-out clause in the 26-year-old's contract with Cherries.

Cherries are hoping to draft in an immediate replacement for Kuffour, with Swindon's Barry Corr and Brentford's Alan Connell both in the frame.

While Swindon would only entertain a loan move for Corr, it is believed Connell could be available on a full transfer.

Alan Connell nice lad but rubbish last time he was here falls over if the grass in too long gets bullied of the ball and then hes injured for months on end, just about sums up the quality

Surely there is no point in signing another striker on loan. We need someone prepared to commit to the cause.
I'm not too excited about the prospect of Connell. "Average" best sums him up. He was never the same player after he got injured. A bit lightweight. Hardly the target man we need. I hope he proves me wrong though.
Good news about Jalal. A quality signing.

Er... signings aside, were the Echo at the Supporters Trust meeting last night?

Should have been cos they appear to have missed a scoop.

Seems at least two groups have tried to buy the club in the last week.

The Vitals site is alive with chat on it, why nothing here?

This affects who we sign, who manages us, the lot - surely it's important?
