Batch not happy as Magpies go through

ASSISTANT boss Adam Batchelor was not a happy man - despite seeing his Wimborne Town side progress to the next round of the FA Vase.

Magpies eased to a 3-0 first round proper win at Wessex Division One strugglers Shaftesbury, but it was far from a vintage performance.

The Cuthbury side took until the second half to make their quality tell, when hotshot Scott Joyce fired a double, either side of a Danny Gibbons goal, to seal victory.

But Batchelor remained unimpressed, saying: "After Tuesday's performance (against Poole Town), it was a little bit low key.

"The lads know what we delivered on Saturday wasn't good enough.

"The performance wasn't great but the result was where we needed to be.

"Sometimes you need to go back to basics when things are not going your way. We needed to get the basics right and didn't do that.

"We were disappointed at half-time and had a chat about it. To be fair to the lads, they went out and got the job done in the second half."

Batchelor took charge of the team with player-manager Christer Warren absent.

Wimborne Town: Walker-Harris, Phillipson-Masters (Jones), Roast, Percival, Arnold, Whitcher, Stokoe, Cann, P Smith (Haysom), Town (Gibbons), Joyce. Unused subs: Hall, Ackerman.
