Lee reflects on 'poor' performance

BAFFLED Lee James has labelled his Jekyll and Hyde performance in yesterday's final round of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles as his worst of the season.
The Parkstone-based professional carded a triple bogey, a double bogey, and six birdies in a final round two-over-par 75.
"I don't know where that round came from," admitted James, who claimed a share of 44th place on level-par - 14 shots behind winner Gregory Havret.
"I got off to a poor start by finding water on the second and it all seemed to go wrong from there. It's frustrating because I had three days of playing well.
"I'm not sure how it all went wrong, but hopefully it is only a blip," he added.
James's roller-coaster ride began with a bogey on the 516-yard second when he attempted to reach the green in two only to see his approach shot roll into the water.
Despite dispensing with a shoe and sock to play out of the drink, he failed to save par.
Two successive dropped shots followed before he carded a birdie two at the sixth.
But his good work was undone at the very next hole when he found the trees twice on the way to a double bogey six.
James looked to have salvaged his round with birdies at the ninth, 10th and 12th before missing a two-foot putt on the way to a treble bogey seven on the unlucky 481-yard 13th.
He showed his resilience, however, with two more birdies and no further dropped shots on the home stretch.
James's winnings of 9,297 Euros moved him up to 178th on the money list.
His next tournament is the European Masters in Switzerland on Thursday.
