Beardsmore joins Ringwood
FORMER Cherries ace Russell Beardsmore has been appointed first team coach at Wessex Division One promotion hopefuls Ringwood Town.
Beardsmore, who had been linked with the Bournemouth Poppies managerial vacancy in recent weeks, will assist Ringwood boss Jy Taylor as the team aim to regain top-flight status at the first attempt.
"He can't commit to more than first team coach because he works in the community scheme at AFC Bournemouth, so it's ideal for him and for us to use his experience," a delighted Taylor told the Daily Echo.
Taylor also revealed that he had secured the signature of Chi Min, an attacking player with four years' experience in the second tier of South Korean football.
John Leaver, Carl Fleet and Gary Lord have also joined, but new capture James Goldsmith will miss the start of the season after breaking his tibia in last week's friendly against Eastleigh.
Ringwood's Division One rivals Verwood Town began their pre-season schedule with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of new-look Christchurch.
Chris Lynch headed Adie Arnold's side into a half-time lead, but goals from Marc Burrows and young prospect Russell Cook (2) gave Priory victory.
Graham Kemp handed starts to new signings Danny Jones, John Blake, John Brock, Mark Smith and Gareth Barnes.
