Free Kitten - Inherit **Free Kitten - Inherit **
12:57pm Fri 27 Jun 08
Meet Free Kitten. Fronted by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Pussy Galore's Julie Cafritz, they usually like to get together every few years and scratch out whatever it is that brings them together. Previously they've tackled Serge Gainsbourg, interminable shoegazing punk rock, avant-rock noise and leftfield pop. Sometimes it works and is mighty fine; other times it doesn't and is far from it.

The Rascals - Rascalize ***The Rascals - Rascalize ***
12:56pm Fri 27 Jun 08
Right, Rascals' singer Miles Kane is the half of The Last Shadow Puppets who isn't in Arctic Monkeys. His association with Alex Turner has earned his band acres of coverage and no doubt heightened expectations of their debut album.

The Music - Strength in Numnbers ****The Music - Strength in Numnbers ****
12:54pm Fri 27 Jun 08
Having threatened much with their debut Take The Long Road and Walk It in 2001, the follow-up (Welcome to the North) was a bit of a damp squib. Singer Robert Harvey's lengthy dalliance with drink and drug addiction didn't bode well for their third album, but the successful rehab has done him the power of good, it seems.

Sigur Ros - Meo Suo I Eyrum Vio Spilum Endalaust *****Sigur Ros - Meo Suo I Eyrum Vio Spilum Endalaust *****
12:51pm Fri 27 Jun 08
After the massive success of Heima following the adoption of Hoppipolla as the international hymn of euphoria (and the theme to Planet Earth), you might have thought Sigur Ros would go large to follow it up. Instead, Meo... (which translates as With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly) adops a far looser approach.

Valentine's DaysValentine's Days
12:43pm Fri 27 Jun 08
THE slavering reviews were in the bag long before the reformed lords of shoegazing My Bloody Valentine ended their five-night run at the Roundhouse - their first live dates in 16 years - on Monday.
