War on the streets
SPREADING HOPE: The cast of Hope's War will be taking the production to the streets of Poole
SPREADING HOPE: The cast of Hope's War will be taking the production to the streets of Poole

IF you see characters from the Second World War taking to the streets of Poole's Old Town this week, don't panic.

You haven't slipped into a parallel time dimension, it is simply the ongoing rehearsals for Poole's brand new street theatre production.

The Lost Quay - Hope's War will look at wartime Poole through the eyes of Hope Arthurs, an auxiliary nurse and local resident.

Featuring a professional cast and crew, it is directed by Richard Batt from Fladermouse who says: "Rehearsals are going really well."

He adds that the production follows on some interesting characters 1940s Poole.

"Audiences are in for a real treat," Richard said.

Tickets for the performances, which will be held on Poole Quay from Monday, July 28, to Saturday, August 9, are on sale at Lighthouse and Poole Welcome Centre.

Performances take place every day except Sundays at 2pm and 6.30pm.
